John B. Prentis serves as Chairman of the Board, and Director of the Company and the Bank. He retired in 2003 as Publisher and CEO of World Magazine, Inc., a publisher of a weekly newsmagazine. Prior to his time at WORLD he was Vice President of Covenant Theological Seminary; Publisher of The St. Louis Globe-Democrat, a daily newspaper; President of Omega Sports, a manufacturer and importer of sporting goods equipment; President of United Missouri Bank of St. Louis and Executive Vice President of United Missouri Bancshares, Inc. He is a graduate of Yale University. Mr. Prentis and his wife Nancy live in Wildwood, Missouri and are the parents of 4 adult children.
Kirk D. Briden is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Company and the Bank. Prior to the formation of the Company, he served as Executive Vice President of Commercial Banking for Montgomery Bank. In addition, he managed commercial banking groups at Allegiant Bank, Commerce Bank and Cass Bank. He completed the corporate training program at Boatmen's Bank where he began his banking career in the middle market commercial banking group. He earned an MBA degree with honors from the John M. Olin School of Business at Washington University and a BS in Business Administration from Cal Poly - San Luis Obispo, California. He and his wife Suzi have four sons and live in Kirkwood, Missouri.
D. Lane Alpert serves as a Director of the Company and the Bank and is a Commercial Group Manager. Previously, he was a Commercial Relationship Manager for Montgomery Bank in St. Louis. Mr. Alpert has 17 years of sales experience in manufacturing, promotions, and technology services. He helped bring a product to market through a start-up company, and has worked for a publicly traded company with $120 million in annual sales. He graduated Cum Laude from Baylor University and has an MBA from Baylor University. He and his wife Karin have two children and reside in Town and Country, Missouri.
Andy Benes serves as a Director of the Company and the Bank. He retired from baseball in 2002 after a 14-year Major League Baseball career. A former #1 overall pick in the 1988 MLB amateur draft, he played on the 1988 USA Baseball team that brought home the gold medal from Seoul, South Korea. He played professionally for the San Diego Padres, Seattle Mariners, Arizona Diamondbacks, and five years for the hometown St. Louis Cardinals. He is currently pursuing a business degree from Saint Louis University. He teams up with the Cardinal’s mascot, “Fredbird,” on TV as host of “Cardinals Crew,” as well as taking an anti-drug message to St. Louis schools. He consults as a baseball analyst for Fox Sports Net. He and his wife Jennifer have four children and live in Town and Country, Missouri.
B. Charles Bono serves as a Director of the Company and the Bank and has been a private investor since leaving TLC Vision Corporation (TLC) in September 2004. He served as Chief Financial Officer of TLC (NASDAQ: TLCV) from May 2002 through August 2004. FromOctober 1992 until its merger with TLC in May 2002, he served as Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of Laser Vision Centers, Inc. (formerly NASDAQ: LVCI). Both TLC and Laser Vision were primarily medical service providers to ophthalmologists. From 1980 to 1992, he was Vice President-Finance or Controller for Storz Instrument Company, a global manufacturer and marketer of medical devices and pharmaceuticals that is now part of Bausch and Lomb Surgical. From 1970 to 1980, he was in public accounting, primarily with Price Waterhouse (now Pricewaterhouse Coopers). He is an inactive Certified Public Accountant and Certified Management Accountant. He holds an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Millikin University. In 2003, he was selected Financial Executive of the Year by the Heartland Chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants. He and his wife Julie live in Manchester, Missouri, and they have two adult children.
Jim Canfield serves as a Director of the Company and the Bank. He is Senior Director of The Work Number’s Complementary Services at TALX Corporation, an Equifax Company. After eight years as a Naval Aviator, Jim joined TALX Corporation in St Louis. He was an undergraduate at Vanderbilt University and received an MBA from Washington University. He is a native of St Louis. He and his wife Nancy have four children and live in Kirkwood, Missouri.
Michael Denckhoff serves as a Director of the Company and the Bank. He is the owner of Savoy Properties, a real estate company that includes commercial brokerage and investment property ownership and management. From 1998 to 2002, Michael was an agent with Grubb & Ellis|Krombach Partners, specializing in office and industrial sales and leasing. Michael earned his BA from DePauw University in Indiana. He and his wife Sara have 4 children and live in Glendale, Missouri.
Chris Kehr serves as a Director of the Company and the Bank and is an Associate Attorney with Kent Kehr and Associates, PC and a Member / Manager of Kehr Development, LLC. A 1983 University of Missouri graduate majoring in Economics, he holds his law degree from Washington University (1987). He served as an attorney in various capacities for the State of Missouri in Jefferson City, including Assistant Attorney General and Assistant General Counsel for the Missouri Department of Natural Resources. He was Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in Callaway County, Missouri and Director and Counsel for the Consumer Services Section of the Missouri Department of Insurance. He has developed and managed various commercial properties as an owner and on behalf of others, in partnership with his father, Kent Kehr, in St. Louis County and City as well as in metropolitan Atlanta, including office buildings, office/warehouse, rehab loft office, and strip retail. He and his wife Martha live in Frontenac, Missouri, and they have two boys.
David J. Klotz serves as a Director of the Company and the Bank. He is the owner of Blue Ribbon Realtors, a residential real estate brokerage, as well as BRR, L.L.C., a real estate holding company. He serves on the board of directors of the Missouri Association of Realtors, the St. Louis Association of Realtors, the Realtor Housing Assistance Fund of St. Louis, and Westminster Christian Academy. Prior to his time at Blue Ribbon Realtors, he was a Group Director at Busch Creative Services, one of the Anheuser-Busch family of companies and was a principal and founder of Southwestern Bell Interactive Technologies, Inc. He served in a variety of other management positions at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and Southwestern Bell Yellow Pages. He was elected alderman for the City of Warson Woods, MO. He is a local Emmy award winning director and cinematographer from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, with a variety of production credits. He is the recipient of both a bronze and gold medal from the International Film and Television Festival of New York and has been awarded a Bronze Quill award from the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) for business communications excellence. He is actively involved in farming enterprises in Southern Illinois. His undergraduate studies were in television communications at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He is an inactive member of the Society of Broadcast Engineers (SBE) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE). He and his wife Susan are the parents of three daughters and reside in St. Louis, Missouri.
Jeff Mugg serves as a Director of the Company and the Bank and is a principal with the architectural firm of St. Louis Design Alliance, Inc. (“StLDA”) and a partner with the real estate development company, Delmar Properties. He has been a managing partner with StLDA for nearly two decades. The firm specializes in working with churches and other non-profit organizations. His real estate development work has included both commercial and residential properties across the St. Louis area. He is a graduate of the University of Arkansas and holds an architectural license in four states. Jeff and his wife Patrice have three children and reside in Kirkwood, Missouri.
Paxton Schneider serves as a Director of the Company and the Bank and is a real estate investor operating throughout the Midwest and Southern states in multifamily residential, commercial/retail and land investments. His company specializes in distressed community redevelopment, new construction and land development speculation. He received his BA from the University of Kansas in 1994. He and his wife Rachael have one son and live in Columbia, Missouri.
Andrew R. Spann serves as a Director of the Company and the Bank and is the owner and President of Professional Employment Group, a staffing firm based in Creve Coeur, Missouri. He is also co-founder of Mount Carmel Communities, a senior living developer and manager in St. Charles, Missouri and President of Hercules-Clearview Window Cleaning Company. From 1990 to 2000 Mr. Spann was President of Spann Building Maintenance Company. Prior to joining Spann he was Vice President-Investment Banking at A. G. Edwards and Sons, Inc., where he served in the Corporate Finance and Mergers and Acquisitions Departments of the firm. Mr. Spann graduated from Denison University with a BA in 1981. He received an MBA with a concentration in finance from Washington University in 1985. He, his wife Karen, and their two children live in Ladue, Missouri.
Robert Uthoff is a Director of the Company and the Bank, as well as a Commercial Group Manager. He came to Champion from Montgomery Bank where he was Senior Vice President in the Commercial Banking area of the St. Louis office. Prior to Montgomery Bank, he held commercial lending positions at Pioneer Bank & Trust, First Bank and Boatmen’s Bank in St. Louis. He started his banking career in 1979 as a State Bank Examiner with the Missouri Division of Finance. He serves on the Board of Trustees of the Lutheran High School Association. Bob is a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University. He lives in South St. Louis County, Missouri. He and his wife Pat have two sons and a daughter.
